Consultation has concluded

Our response

  • Responded to an unprecedented bush fire season – during September 2019 fires occurred across Queensland, with more than 70 crews restoring the power to over 8,500 impacted customers, then in November bushfires in Yeppoon saw 77 personnel mobilised, and more in other communities.

  • The summer season saw five major storm events, all in the South East, with 1,122 field personnel involved in our response.

  • Collaborated through the Thriving Communities Partnership with other corporate, not for profit and government organisations on a journey mapping activity around the 2019 North Queensland Monsoon to explore the opportunities as a collective for positive change in the disaster response space. Read more in the Case Study Partnering to help our communities thrive.

  • With a focus on safety and community support, we continuously review, revise and update our summer preparedness plans to put us in the best position to respond when these disasters hit.
