Consultation has concluded

New Standards for Connection of Embedded Generation

We are currently seeking feedback on the STNW1175 Version 3, draft standard for the connection of HV Embedded Generating (EG) systems to our High Voltage (HV) distribution network.

Energy Networks Australia (ENA) published the National Grid Connection Guidelines last year. The aim of these is to have all distribution networks within Australia follow the same guidelines in principle.

Energy Queensland has been supportive of the initiative and is aiming to achieve compliance to the guidelines as well as consider the challenges and further opportunities in Queensland.

We invite your response now to ensure the best outcomes for all via the feedback area below by Monday, 7 September 2020.

We have already published:

Changes to consider include:

  • Template changes in alignment with ENA guidelines
  • Capacity references defined in kVA/MVA. Export remains in kW/MW
  • Grid Isolation Device ownership options for certain arrangements
  • RPEQ commissioning requirement for bumpless transfer systems
  • Interlocking requirements introduced aligning with STNW1174
  • Measurement references for the Grid Protection Relay clearly specified
  • Details on cybersecurity and telecommunications
  • Information on plant energisation studies and requirements
  • Details on curtailment schemes

Should you have other enquiries or comments beyond the feedback form on the changes, please email:

This will better support you as well as the state’s transition to renewable energy.
