Energex and Ergon Energy are the companies that operate the electricity distribution network in Queensland – the poles and wires that deliver electricity to homes and businesses.
The amount of money we charge for the use of this network makes up approximately half of the retail price of electricity.
Every five years, we need to send a proposal to the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) detailing:
In the proposal to the AER, we need to demonstrate that we have:
listened to the concerns of electricity consumers
developed pricing structures (tariffs) with electricity retailers
used the feedback from the public, electricity retailers and key stakeholder groups to shape our submission.
Our next proposal to the Australian Energy Regulator covers the period July 2020 – June 2025 and is due to be submitted in late 2019.
We need your help to provide us with feedback on a range of issues about the future of energy in Queensland. Please register to have your say.
